Epitaph.XXX 

A concert commemorating the youngest victims of current and past wars and armed conflicts on the 30th anniversary of M. Weinberg’s death and the 4th anniversary of the outbreak of war in Ukraine.

26 February, 7 p.m. Concert Hall of the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk

The vocal lyrics of Mahler and Weinberg reflect on the phenomena of death, transience, sacrifice and injustice, but they also offer hope. They reveal Mahler’s ‘Ewiges Licht’, focusing our gaze and encouraging us to seek the sound of Eternal Light.

In this way, we focus on the defenceless victims, their almost nameless faces dressed in growing statistics, behind which – especially behind the children – lies a whole world, galaxies of hope, everything they could have experienced if it weren’t for the war.
